Lightning

The Minnesota Lightning was a women’s professional soccer team founded in 2006 by the Minnesota Thunder. The team was a member of the United Soccer Leagues W-League, the second tier of women’s soccer in the United States and Canada. They played most of its home games at Elizabeth Robbie Stadium on the University of Minnesota Campus. The team featured superstar forward Caroline Smith.

The Lightning’s logo features a lightning bolt that drops down from the words “Minnesota Lightning,” which are in blue and gold letters. In its two years in the USL’s W-League, the team had a record of 19-4-3 and had made the playoffs each season.
